Aims & Objectives
To promote, support and develop Integrative approaches to sandplay and associated Creative Arts Therapies.
To promote understanding of Integrative Sandplay Therapy and associated Creative Arts Therapies within the therapeutic professions and within the wider health professional community.
To define guidelines and promote standards for the training of students and teachers of Integrative Sandplay Therapy and associated Creative Arts Therapies.
To act as a validating organisation for courses in Integrative Sandplay Therapy and associated Creative Arts Therapies.
To support research into the therapeutic application of sandplay and associated Creative Arts Therapies.
To provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience for Sandplay Therapists and associated Creative Arts therapies.
Associated Creative Arts therapies include, but are not limited to, drawing, painting, art work, music, movement, story telling and drama enactment used in conjunction with Sandplay Therapy.
Ethical Standards
The Association of Integrative Sandplay Therapists is committed to maintaining and promoting the highest ethical and clinical standards in Sandplay Therapy and associated Creative Arts Therapies.
Members of AIST are required to comply with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the AIST code of ethics and ethical guidelines for clinical practice.
Members of AIST carrying out research are required to comply with the ethical guidelines and code of practice of the validating university and/or the appropriate NHS Ethics Committee.
